Temporary Faculty Pool – Lecturer in American Sign Language
The department seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses in American Sign Language or other classes as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students.
Instructor ResponsibilitiesTemporary faculty members are responsible for adherence and implementation of university and system-wide policies per Academic Policy Manual 306. Instructors prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework, quizzes, class projects, and midterm/final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled, in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Conditional AppointmentAppointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and follow the Order of Work provisions in the collective bargaining agreement. Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.
CompensationSalary is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358). For temporary faculty with a Master’s degree, the monthly range is $5,507‑$6,677 for full‑time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually near the minimum. Salary adjusts based on WTUs assigned.
Anticipated SemesterThe pool is continuously open, filled as needed. Positions vary by semester. The pool lasts two academic terms; those wishing to remain beyond must reapply.

August 19 – December 22 - Spring 2027:
January 15 – May 26
- Master’s degree in Sign Language Education or closely related field with ASLTA Certification.
- Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
- Commitment to teaching excellence at undergraduate level; evidence such as prior teaching experience and evaluations.
- Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
- Minimum 3 years teaching American Sign Language and ASLTA Certification.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Review may begin as early as June 15 2026 for a Fall 2026 assignment.
