Position: 26-27 AY Temporary Faculty Pool (Lecturer) - Electrical and Computer Engineering

Temporary Faculty Pool – Lecturer in Electrical and Computer Engineering

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department is housed in the Lyles College of Engineering at California State University, Fresno. The department offers BS and MS programs in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, all of which are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET. Approximately 400 undergraduate and 30 graduate students are enrolled, and the curriculum includes rigorous hands-on labs and research opportunities.

Position

Summary

The successful applicant will teach core ECE courses and labs. Areas of interest include electric circuits, digital and analog electronics, communications, electric power and energy, and related topics. Candidates must be qualified to teach course(s) and/or labs.

Instructor Responsibilities

Temporary faculty members are responsible for adhering to university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph
2. Responsibilities include preparing, delivering, and grading lectures, office hours, homework, quizzes, class projects, and exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).

Conditional Appointment

Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the collective bargaining agreement between CSU and the Faculty Association. The order of assignment follows the “Order of Work” provision. Applicants must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States; CSU Fresno does not sponsor work visas for temporary faculty.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358). For a Master’s degree holder teaching full-time (15 WTUs), the salary range is $5,507–$6,677 per month. Starting salaries are usually near the minimum of the range and are adjusted based on WTUs assigned per term.

Anticipated Semester

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and filled as needed. Applications may be required to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains in place for two academic terms; applicants who wish to stay beyond that must reapply.

  • Fall 2026:
    August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026
  • Spring 2027:
    January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027
Required Qualifications Education

A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution or its foreign equivalent.

Experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence, evidenced through prior teaching experience and evaluations.
  • Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • Expertise in a closely related discipline.
