Temporary Faculty Pool – Lecturer in Deaf Education
The department seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses in Deaf Education or other courses as needed to fulfill the educational goals of current students.
Instructor Responsibility- Adhere to university and system-wide policies as directed by the Academic Policy Manual.
- Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams.
- Ensure all classes meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, within the CSU salary schedule (Class Code 2358). Temporary Faculty with a Master’s degree earn $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range, and actual monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per academic term.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a closely related field and a California Teaching Credential in Deaf and Hard of Hearing or a state‑equivalent certificate.
- Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experience and evaluations.
- Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
- Minimum of three years as a Deaf or Hard of Hearing teacher.
- Background check, including criminal record check, is required.
- Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and follows the order of assignment provisions.
