Salary: $67.00 hourly.

Job Type: Temporary – Adjunct.

The successful applicant will provide instruction in a full range of sociology courses. Additional duties include participation in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Social Science department; maintaining subject‑matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and multimedia technology; and collegial participation in departmental, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities. This assignment may include using multiple teaching methodologies and teaching at other campus sites;

day, evening, or weekend classes; large classes; distance learning classes; and classes for incarcerated students.

• Master’s degree in sociology.
• Or Bachelor’s degree in sociology combined with a Master’s degree in anthropology, ethnic studies, social work, or psychology.
• Or possession of a valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of sociology at the California Community College level.
• Or equivalent qualifications.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community‑college students.
• Degrees and credits from accredited institutions (Title V, Section 5340‑6); degrees earned outside the United States must be evaluated by an approved credential‑evaluation service.

• Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the California community‑college mission.
