Temporary Faculty Pool - Lecturer in Business Law

The Department of Finance, Real Estate and Business Law offers three options within the Bachelor of Science in the Business Administration degree program:
Finance, International Business, and Real Estate and Urban Land Economics. The Department is home to the award‑winning Student‑Managed Investment Funds Program currently managing a $6.5 million endowment fund.

Position Summary

The department seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses such as BA 18 – Business and the Legal Environment or other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students.

Instructor Responsibilities

Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system‑wide policies. Instructors are responsible for the preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading of lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).

Compensation

Commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range set by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358). The salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Master’s degree is $5,507‑6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Actual monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per academic term.

Anticipated Semester

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, positions filled as needed based on enrollment and funding. The number of positions varies from semester to semester. Appointments are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool will remain in place for two academic terms;

those wishing to remain beyond that must reapply.

  • Fall 2026:
    August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026
  • Spring 2027:
    January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027
Required Qualifications

Education: A Juris Doctor’s degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school and/or license to practice law in good standing with a bar association of at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the field; or a doctorate degree within the previous 5 years; or recent scholarly activity such as peer‑reviewed publications.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • A commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced through prior teaching experiences and evaluations.
  • Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • Relevant industry experience.

    July 1, 2026 for Fall 2026;
    October 31, 2026 for Spring 2027;
    March 1, 2027 for the 2026‑2027 Academic Year.
