Temporary Faculty Pool - University Coach (Supervisor) – PK‑3 ECE Specialist Instruction Credential Program
The Literacy, Early, Bilingual, and Special Education Department (LEBSE) offers courses and professional development for Pre‑K‑12 teachers, including the PK‑3 ECE Specialist Instruction Credential Program.
Position SummaryThe University Coach (Supervisor) is a faculty member who supervises Teacher Credential Candidates for the PK‑3 ECE Specialist Instruction Credential Program, acting as liaison between the university and cooperating schools.
Coach Responsibilities- Meet with Mentor Teachers to orient candidates and discuss expectations, roles, and co‑teaching arrangements.
- Conduct regular site visits to observe candidates and engage with candidates, Mentor Teachers, administrators, and others.
- Complete at least six formal lesson observations and provide formative, action‑oriented feedback.
- Maintain ongoing communication and provide feedback on growth areas throughout the semester.
- Review lesson plans and reflections, giving continuous feedback.
- Assist candidates in applying current teaching methods, materials, and resources.
- Use effective questioning and coaching strategies to promote self‑assessment, reflection, and goal setting.
- Identify and document areas for improvement and, if necessary, consult the Education Specialist Program Coordinator.
- Support candidates in basic needs and mental‑health areas and refer to appropriate resources.
- Evaluate the candidate’s site visitation and teaching sample projects and provide remediation if needed.
- Conduct mid‑semester and final‑semester evaluations in triad meetings.
- Help candidates meet Teaching Performance Expectations and assign grades through People Soft/My Fresno State .
- Attend all mandatory program events, professional development, and training.
- Interact respectfully with all candidate and mentor teachers.
- Submit all required documentation digitally through TK20.
The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, ranging from $5,507 to $6,677 per month for full‑time teaching (15 WTUs). Salary is adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.
Schedule / Anticipated SemesterPositions are filled as needed. Current available semesters include:
- Fall 2026 – August 19, 2026 to December 22, 2026
- Spring 2027 – January 15, 2027 to May 26, 2027
- Clear Multiple Subject teaching credential plus 24 ECE units or PK‑3 credential.
- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field.
For those coaching candidates pursuing Bilingual Authorization, a Bilingual Authorization or BCLAD and fluency in Spanish or Hmong is required.
