Position: Temporary Faculty Pool
- Lecturer in Criminology
- Teach undergraduate courses as outlined in the department’s catalog or other courses identified to fulfill educational goals.
- Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final examinations.
- Ensure all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association.
Applicants must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States. The university does not sponsor temporary faculty for work visas.
CompensationCommensurate with qualifications and experience within salary range placement. The salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers).
Temporary faculty with a Master’s degree earn $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. Monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.
Anticipated SemesterThe pool is open continuously and positions are filled as needed. Awards are made prior to the start of the academic term; applicants may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains in place for two academic terms; those interested in remaining beyond that time must reapply.

August 19 2026 – December 22 2026 - Spring 2027:
January 15 2027 – May 26 2027
- Education: A Master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice or closely related fields.
- Experience: Demonstrated commitment to working with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds; teaching experience in criminology/criminal justice courses; experience working with criminal justice agencies or related agencies.
- A commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, demonstrated through prior teaching experience and evaluations.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to develop engaging course content.
- Commitment to student success and academic excellence.
- Proficiency in using classroom and online instructional technologies.
- Dedication to continuous professional development.
- Knowledge of current trends and issues in the field of criminal justice.
