Temporary Faculty Pool - Lecturer in Geomatics Engineering

The department seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses including:

  • GME 15:
    Engineering Surveying (3 units, 3 WTUs)
  • GME 15L:
    Engineering Surveying Laboratory (1 unit, 2 WTUs)
  • GME 16:
    Municipal Surveying (3 units, 3 WTUs)
  • GME 16L:
    Municipal Surveying Laboratory (1 unit, 2 WTUs)
  • GME 40/40L:
    Route Construction and Surveying
  • GME 66L:
    Computer‑aided Drafting (1 unit, 2 WTUs)
  • GME 102:
    Remote Sensing (3 units, 3 WTUs)
  • GME 123:
    Stereo Photogrammetry (3 units, 4 WTUs)
  • GME 126:
    Digital Mapping (3 units, 4 WTUs)
  • GME 159:
    Subdivision Design (3 units, 3 WTUs)
  • Or other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students
Instructor Responsibilities

Temporary faculty members are responsible for adhering to and implementing university and system‑wide policies as directed per the Academic Policy Manual. Instructors prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterms and finals. All courses must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester, in the specified mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).

Appointment

Appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and the California Faculty Association. Approval and assignment are on a first‑come, first‑served basis after tenure‑line faculty.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the CSU Salary Schedule for Academic Year Lecturers (Class Code = 2358). For a Master’s degree the monthly range for full‑time (15 WTUs) teaching is $5,507–$6,677, starting near the minimum. Actual monthly pay will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.

Anticipated Semester

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed. The pool remains in place for two academic terms; those wishing to remain beyond must reapply. Specific term dates include:

  • Fall 2026:
    August 19 – December 22, 2026
  • Spring 2027:
    January 15 – May 26, 2027
Required Qualifications Education (GME 15, 15L, 16, 16L, 66L, 102, 123, 126)
  • MS in Civil Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, or a related area.
  • BS in Civil Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, or a related area
    * if* the applicant meets required experience.
Experience (GME 15, 15L, 16, 16L, 66L, 102, 123, 126)
  • California Land Surveyor in Training License (LSIT).
Preferred (GME 15, 15L, 16, 16L, 66L, 102, 123, 126)
  • California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS).
  • Knowledge of drafting techniques, standards, tools, software, equipment, and practices in the Land Surveying Profession.
  • University‑level teaching experience.
Education (GME 40)
  • Same as above (MS or BS with required experience).
Experience (GME 40)
  • California Land Surveyor in Training License (LSIT).
Preferred (GME 40)
  • California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS).
  • Knowledge of drafting techniques, standards, tools, software, equipment, and practices in the Land Surveying Profession.
  • Experience in planning, design, and implementation of construction staking.
  • University‑level teaching experience.
Experience (GME 159)
  • Land Surveyor in Training License (LSIT).
Preferred (GME 159)
  • California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS).
  • Knowledge of drafting techniques, standards, tools, software, equipment, and practices in the Land Surveying Profession, particularly as it pertains to the Subdivision Map Act.
  • University‑level teaching experience.
