Temporary Faculty Pool – Lecturer in American Sign Language
Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph
2. Instructors prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester, in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).
- Teach undergraduate courses in ASL-English Interpreting or other identified classes.
- Prepare course materials, assignments, projects, and exams.
- Conduct office hours and provide academic support to students.
- Proctor and grade all course assessments.
- Meet all scheduled class sessions as per the department timetable.
The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and is based on the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358). For a master’s degree holder the monthly range is $5,507–$6,677 for 15 weekly teaching units.
Anticipated SemesterThe pool is continuously open and appointments are filled by semester. The position may require short‑notice availability and is valid for two academic terms.
- Fall 2026:
August 19 – December 22, 2026 - Spring 2027:
January 15 – May 26, 2027
- Education: Master’s degree in ASL Interpreting or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Proven ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
- Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level (e.g., prior teaching experience, evaluations).
- Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
- At least 3 years as an ASL-English Interpreter and RID or comparable certification.
