The Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences & Technology seeks students as Graduate Assistants. Appointments are contingent upon adequate funding. GA applicants typically assist faculty in conducting special projects/research within the discipline, conducting authorized research, and/or evaluating student work and examinations.

The department reserves the right to choose the most qualified candidate for each position and to assign Graduate Assistants to courses or duties appropriate for the department program and curriculum each semester. Due to staff and curriculum changes, appointments may vary and no guarantee of employment from semester to semester can be made.

• Fall 2026:
  August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026
• Spring 2027:
  January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027

Hours/Units per week:
Students can work up to 20 hours per week.

1 unit = 2.66 hours per week (40 hrs ÷ 15 unit). No more than 6 units (or not to exceed 7.50 total WTU’s in one semester) equals 20 hours per week.

• Provide professional non‑teaching assistance to faculty members.
• Assist with research and preparation of course materials.
• Supervise students in classroom, workshop, or laboratory settings (final responsibility vested in faculty).
• Train students in use of equipment or other resources.
• Participate in evaluation of students’ work.

• Minimum GPA 3.0; 3.5 or higher preferred.
• Possession of an approved baccalaureate degree and full admission to a master’s program in the college.
• International students must have a TOEFL score of 600 or better.
• Must enroll in at least 6 units (three graduate) for the semester or in two courses applicable to the program of study.
• Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Ability to relate well within the academic environment and potential to learn how to instruct and evaluate students.
• Ability to assist faculty in special projects/research within discipline.
• Communication skills appropriate to instructional setting.
• Evidence of subject matter competence; experience in a closely‑related discipline.
• Proficiency with computers, including word‑processing and internet‑based learning technology.

Salary is based on weighted teaching units assigned and varies by department.
