Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed by the Academic Policy Manual. Instructors are responsible for the preparation, delivery, proctoring, and grading of lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).

Appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and the California Faculty Association. These provisions state the “Order of Work,” the order in which available courses must be assigned to faculty, starting with tenure‑line faculty and ending with new lecturer appointees.

Pay is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range established by the CSU Salary Schedule for Class Code 2358 (Academic Year Lecturers). For Temporary Faculty with a master’s degree the range is $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Salaries are adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.

• Fall 2026:
  August 19 – December 22, 2026
• Spring 2027:
  January 15 – May 26, 2027

Education: Master’s degree in Enology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Food Science with an emphasis in Enology or a closely related field.

Experience: Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds; commitment to and potential for teaching excellence; strong oral and written communication skills.

• Commitment to teaching excellence demonstrated through prior teaching experience and evaluations or other evidence.
• Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
• Experience in wine production, processing, analysis, or evaluation.
• Experience with small‑scale wine making practices.
• Ability to operate and demonstrate winery equipment.
• Knowledge of preparing students for careers in the wine industry.
