The Communication program at Fresno State offers a balance of humanistic and scientific instruction, preparing students for careers in teaching, business, law, communication professions, public service, politics, and management.
Position Summary- Teach undergraduate courses such as Introduction to Public Communication, Group Communication, and Persuasion or other classes identified as needed.
Temporary faculty members will adhere to university and system-wide policies as directed in Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph
2. Responsibilities include preparing, delivering, conducting, proctoring, and grading lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester, following the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment and are subject to the Order of Work in the collective bargaining agreement. New lecturer appointees are assigned after tenure‑line faculty. Applicants must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States;

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, within the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358). For a Master’s degree holder, the range is $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full‑time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually near the minimum of the range and will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.

August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026 - Spring 2027:
January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027
- Master’s degree in Communication or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced through prior teaching experience and evaluation.
- Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
