Position DescriptionTemporary Faculty Pool – Lecturer in Studio Art, Interior Design, Graphic Design and Art History
The Department of Art and Design is accepting applications to its temporary faculty pool. The purpose of this recruitment is to establish a pool of qualified candidates from which temporary instructional appointments may teach Studio Art, Graphic Design, Art History, or Interior Design.
The department seeks qualified candidate(s) to teach undergraduate courses such as:
- Interior Design, Graphic Design
- Other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill the educational goals of current students
- Adhere to and implement university and system‑wide policies as directed by Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2.
- Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams.
- Ensure all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and are subject to the order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and the California Faculty Association.
CompensationCommensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range specified by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). For a master's degree, the monthly range is $5,507‑$6,677 when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Start salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. Actual monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.
AnticipatedSemester
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Applicants may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice.

January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027
A Master’s degree in Art with an emphasis in Interior Design, Art Studio, Graphic Design, or a closely related field.
Experience- Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, demonstrated through prior teaching experiences and evaluations.
- Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
- Experience teaching in a college‑level setting.
