Position Summary
The department seeks a qualified candidate to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Social Work Education, including:
- Quantitative Research
- Program Evaluation
- Field Instructional Practice
- Other courses as identified to meet educational goals of current students
Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph
2. Responsibilities include preparation, delivery, proctoring, and grading of lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All courses must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed based on enrollment and funding. Appointments are temporary, often made just prior to the academic term start. Applicants may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains in place for two academic terms; those wishing to remain must reapply.

January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027
Education: A Master’s degree in Social Work or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
Experience:
- Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experience and evaluations.
- Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the CSU salary range (Class Code 2358) for Temporary Faculty. The range for a Master’s holder is $5,507 – $6,677 per month for full‑time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually near the minimum of the range and are adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned.
