Position: After School Instructional Staff

Role Description The After School Instructional Staff role is a part-time, on-site position based in Fresno, CA. In this role, team members support students during after-school hours by facilitating instructional activities, homework support, and enrichment projects aligned with program goals. Daily tasks include preparing and organizing materials, guiding small groups, maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment, and monitoring student engagement and behavior.

Staff members collaborate with school personnel and Chalk Wild leadership to follow program guidelines, track attendance, and provide basic feedback on student progress. The role may also involve setting up and cleaning classroom spaces and participating in brief staff meetings or trainings as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with school-age children in educational, childcare, or youth program settings; ability to build positive, respectful relationships with diverse students.
  • Basic instructional support skills, including homework help, guiding small group activities, and following lesson plans or activity outlines provided by program leadership.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, school staff, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive environment, including active supervision, classroom management, and adherence to school and program policies.
  • Reliability and professionalism, including punctuality, consistent attendance, and willingness to follow established procedures and feedback.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, child development, or related fields is preferred.
  • Capacity to stand, walk, and engage in light physical activity during program hours; background check and any district-required clearances are required.
  • Interest in after-school enrichment, student growth, and continuous learning; willingness to participate in brief trainings and adapt to program needs.
