Position OverviewThe Department of Educational Leadership seeks students as Graduate Assistants. Appointments are contingent upon adequate funding.
Anticipated Appointment DatesThis position is opened until filled. If you have applied and no other positions are available, you will be notified.
Fall 2026:
August 19, 2026 – December 23, 2026;
Spring 2027:
January 19, 2027 – May 26, 2027
Students can work up to 20-hours per week; 1-unit is equivalent to 2.66 hrs per week (40hrs x 1-unit/15-unit);
No more than 6 units, (or not to exceed 7.50 total WTU’s in one semester, which equates to 20-hours per week)
- Provide professional non‑teaching assistance to faculty members
- Provide research assistance and practical experience in fields related to their advanced study
- May involve supervising students in a classroom, workshop, or laboratory (final responsibility is vested in a member of the faculty)
- Provide training students in the use of equipment or other resources
- Assist faculty with research and preparation of course materials
- Participate in evaluation of students' work
- Developing processes and strategies to foster engagement with the Ed.D. Program community, namely the program's students, alumni, larger Fresno State community, and prospective students
- Collaborating with the Program Advisor to create a system for tracking program alumni, updating their contact information, and identifying opportunities for alumni to connect with current students and community members
- Coordinating programs such as alumni speaker webinars and socials;
Identifying program alumni and collecting information from them to share on social media and the program website - Assist in identifying potential community partners
- Determining needs of our program alumni and offering resources
- Minimum GPA 3.0;
Applicants with a 3.5 or higher are preferred - International students must have a TOEFL score of 600 or better
- Must enroll in at least 6 units (three of which must be graduate units) for the semester or in two courses applicable to program of study
- Must have an earned Bachelor's degree
- Must be enrolled in the HEAL master's program at Fresno State
- Experience working in higher education and/or student affairs
- Experience developing and delivering surveys using Google Forms and Qualtrics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Google Suite and MS Office
- Understanding of social justice and equity issues in higher education
- Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic background
- For those who have previously held a TA position at Fresno State, peer and student evaluations will be reviewed and considered as part of the selection process
- Desire to develop student affairs professional competencies
- Experience in analyzing and delivering reports on data from surveys
- Experience using Mailchimp and Canvas online software
