Responsibilities
  • Adhere to and implement university and system-wide policies as directed by Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2.
  • Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams.
  • Ensure all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Appointment Information

Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and is subject to the order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and the California Faculty Association. Eligible applicants must be authorized to work in the United States;
Fresno State does not sponsor temporary faculty positions.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and within the CSU salary range for Class Code 2358 (Academic Year Lecturers). For holders of a Master’s degree, the range is $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are typically near the minimum of the range and will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per academic term.

Semesters

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open; positions are filled as needed based on enrollment and funding. Appointments are typically made just prior to the start of the academic term. Pool tenure is two academic terms; candidates wishing to remain beyond that must re‑apply.
Fall 2026:
August 19 – December 22, 2026
Spring 2027:
January 15 – May 26, 2027

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Dance or a closely related field from an accredited institution (or foreign equivalent).
  • Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and to excellence built on merit, talent, diversity, accessibility, and equal opportunity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experience and evaluations or other evidence.
  • Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
