The successful candidate will join a department dedicated to the use of curriculum responsive to the students it serves.
Providing services at Fresno City College, the Counselor will cover a full range of counseling responsibilities including academic, career, transfer and personal counseling to a diverse student population. The successful candidate for the Counselor position will be responsible for:
- Provide mental health services to students, including assessment and brief mental health therapy;
- Provide effective short-term therapy to students, in individual and groups settings, to address mental health concerns, emotional wellness, and substance abuse issues;
- Provide crisis support or intervention to students in distress and conduct crisis interventions and assessments to students as needed;
- Case management: referral to campus and community resources to secure student basic needs and to ensure continuity of therapeutic care;
- Develop and maintain confidential notes and records in accordance with applicable standards of practice and federal/state laws and regulations;
- Develop and provide equity-minded professional development workshops and programs to foster positive mental health that enhances students’ abilities to benefit from college including anger management, conflict resolution, domestic violence and communication skills;
