Substitute Teacher

Provides instruction to high school students as a substitute teacher. Assist in the fulfillment of the agency's vision, "For Those We Serve," by empowering individuals who thrive as healthy, self-sufficient and contributing members of our communities.

Teach the lesson plans prepared by the regular teacher.

Maintain an effective and orderly classroom environment.

Submit daily attendance records.

Assist with the supervision of all students during school hours.

Performs other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or GED.

Bachelor's degree and valid substitute teaching credential through the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing.

Prior experience as a substitute teacher at the secondary/high school level.

Knowledge of concepts in computers in an instructional environment and able to work with cooperative group's methods.

Effective presentation, written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work well with youth/teens and diverse population, and with contracted service providers and representatives of partnering agencies.

Pass required background investigation including medical examination and TB clearance, acceptable criminal record statement, Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.

COVID-19 vaccination required within 60 days of hire, unless approved for religious or medical exemption.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
