The successful candidate will join a department dedicated to the use of a curriculum responsive to the students it serves.
Reporting to the Dean of Student Services, Counseling at Fresno City College; it will cover a full range of academic, personal, and career counseling as it relates to transfer services. Maintaining close working relationships with the dean, program director(s) and instructional faculty, the successful candidate for the Counselor position will be responsible for:
- Providing comprehensive counseling services for students including academic, career, personal and life transitions counseling on an appointment basis;
- Providing group counseling sessions, orientations, and workshops;
- Assisting students in clarifying their educational goals, selection of courses, and developing Student Educational Plans (SEPs);
- Monitoring student progress through comprehensive electronic data systems;
- Maintaining close working relationships with program and other instructional faculty, feeder high schools, and community resources agencies;
- Working with a diverse population of students to emphasize strategies for educational planning and transfer preparation;
- Serving as the liaison to the Counseling Department on transfer services and activities;
- Developing and maintaining student educational plans, student contacts, interpret external transcripts;
