Job SummaryThis position provides engineering support for design-build projects. You will work with Project Managers and Sales Professionals to review and recommend engineered HVAC solutions and designs, coordinate and quality-check outsourced engineering resources, determine and process utility incentives, prepare permit documents for small mechanical projects, determine load calculations, and perform other engineering duties.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Develops an engineering scope of work, recommends equipment selections, and other pre-construction activities.
- Mechanical designs for central chiller plants, package units, split systems, air handling units, variable refrigerant volume units and other mechanical systems
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
- Prepares preliminary (redline) design layouts for estimating.
- Responsible for the quality of work produced by third party engineering consultants.
- Participates in conceptual design for specific projects.
- Performs site inspections to verify equipment selection.
- Performs calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, pipe and duct sizing, friction loss calculations, etc.
- Works with our team of Project Managers throughout project design and construction
- Perform Heating, Cooling Load Calculations and Title 24 Compliance calculations.
- Prepares and delivers client presentations.
- Help to develop, write, and review client proposal documents including financial and technical sections.
- Interacting in a professional manner with other EMCOR/Mesa departments (ie. Operations, chiller teams, project management, service etc.)
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to your growth and development.
- Other duties and special projects as directed.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Professional Engineering license required.
- CEM, highly preferred
- 10+ years’ experience in HVAC Design/construction
- Extensive design experience with chilled water central plants.
- Knowledge of OSHPD/HCAI codes is a plus.
- Independent decision making is required.
- Computer skills using MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD MEP or Revit
- Experienced with Mechanical Codes and Energy Efficiency Standards
- Experience with energy efficiency, developing or supporting performance-based projects or energy services.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to write technical proposals and reports.
- Strong customer presentation skills and a demonstrated sales aptitude.
- Financial acumen, inclusive of cost modeling for sales proposals.
- Experience in developing technical and cost proposals.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
- Must be capable of making autonomous decisions based on experience and project requirements.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects at any given time.
