Financial Consultant
Overview
Personal Financial Counselor role supporting military installations with financial counseling services for service members and their families. The program serves Veterans, transitioning military personnel, National Guard and Reserve Members, military spouses, wounded warriors and caregivers. Responsibilities include counseling, education, and resource referrals, working with installation leadership and DoD program offices to ensure the program meets needs within scope.
Responsibilities- Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
- Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
- Develop and provide informational financial materials.
- Coordinate, publicize and deliver a variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops (e.g., topics across the military lifecycle).
- Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes (web-based, secure chat, video teleconference) as authorized.
- Manage duty-to-warn situations according to DoD protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision to share trends and issues.
- Participate in in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required; may consider an associate degree with 4 years of experience, or a high school diploma with 6 years of experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract.
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 background investigation.
- Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI).
- One of the following certifications:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary Range: $58,440 – $93,500 (base salary; actual pay based on skills, experience, and location).
