Reserve Juvenile Correctional Officer – a temporary Extra‑Help role within the Fresno County Probation Department. Incumbents provide direct supervision, counsel, and transport of youth detained or committed to the Juvenile Justice Campus; supervise youth on‑site or in the community; perform control room activities and related functions as required. The position is classified as an extra‑help (temporary) classification; incumbents are paid an hourly rate for actual hours worked, are not entitled to benefits, and serve at the ultimate discretion of the department head.

Successful candidates will be assigned to the Juvenile Justice Campus (Highway 99 and American Avenue) and must be willing to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Education:
  
  Possession of a United States high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Completion of thirty (30) semester units of coursework within an accredited U.S. college or university system.
• Substitution:
  One (1) year of full‑time paid or volunteer experience working with youth in a public setting may substitute for fifteen (15) semester units of required education.
• License:
  Possession of a valid Class “C” driver’s license; incumbents may be required to obtain a Class “B” driver’s license or equivalent.
• Certificate: A valid First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate is required before appointment.
• Age:
  Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Peace Officer Status:
  As defined under California Penal Code Section 830.5, must meet all pre‑employment and ongoing peace officer status requirements pursuant to federal, state, and local legislation.
• Background Investigation:
  Candidates must undergo and pass a thorough background investigation, polygraph, medical and psychological examinations, including verification of personal history, education, employment, residence, financial status, military service, and vehicle operation history.
