This position is located at Coalinga State Hospital. Apply psychological knowledge and techniques to the assessment and treatment of forensic patients who are detained or committed pursuant to the California Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) Act, Mentally Disordered Offender (MDO) Law, or Mentally Ill Prisoner Program; develop treatment plans, facilitate treatment team conferences, facilitate psychotherapy groups and individual therapy; serve as the department specialist in functional assessment and behavioral intervention for patients with challenging problems;

administer, score, and interpret psychological tests.

functions of psychologists in various mental health services; current trends in the field of mental health; professional training; community organization and allied professional services.

DSH-Coalinga opened in 2005 and began treating forensically committed patients, mostly of which are sexually violent predators. It is a self-contained psychiatric hospital constructed with a security perimeter. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) provides perimeter security as well as transportation of patients to outside medical services and court proceedings.
