X-Ray Technologist (Radiologic Technologist)
The X-ray Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging examinations using X-ray equipment, ensuring high-quality images, and maintaining patient safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and position patients for X-ray procedures, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Operate and maintain X-ray equipment, following safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure.
- Capture high-quality diagnostic images for physician review and diagnosis.
- Verify patient identity and review medical history prior to procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient records, imaging logs, and documentation.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Perform routine quality control checks on equipment.
- Comply with all federal, state, and facility-specific guidelines and safety procedures.
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification preferred or required (depending on state).
- CPR certification.
- Strong communication skills and patient care abilities.
- Proficiency in using medical imaging software and technology.
- California – Requires certification by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH‑RHB).
- Texas – Requires certification through the Texas Medical Board.
- New York – Licensure required; must be registered with the NYS Department of Health.
- Florida – Requires licensure from the Florida Department of Health.
- Massachusetts – Requires state licensure.
- Illinois – Requires accreditation through the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.
- Ohio – Licensure through the Ohio Department of Health.
- New Jersey – State license required via the Department of Environmental Protection.
- Oregon – Licensure required through the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging.
- North Carolina – Requires state certification for certain roles.
- Nevada – Requires state licensure through the Nevada State Health Division.
- Hawaii – Requires state licensing.
- Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin – All require state licensing or certification, often through ARRT or a state board.
