About the Role:

The Front Office Medical Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of a medical office by serving as the first point of contact for patients and visitors. This position involves managing patient check-ins and check-outs, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate patient records to support efficient clinical workflows. The role requires effective communication with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to facilitate seamless administrative processes.

Additionally, the Front Office Medical Assistant is responsible for handling sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism. Ultimately, this position contributes to a positive patient experience and supports the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the healthcare facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working as a Front Office Medical Assistant or in a similar healthcare administrative role.
  • Familiarity with insurance billing and coding processes.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish and English, to assist a diverse patient population.
  • Experience with appointment scheduling software and patient management systems.
  • Training in customer service or patient relations.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical staff.
  • Collect co-pays and process payments, maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Maintain and update patient files and medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure timely patient flow and appointment management.
  • Assist with insurance verification and processes as needed.
  • Manage office supplies and ensure the front desk area is organized and welcoming.
