Maintenance Mechanic

Description

This position will be responsible for preventive maintenance and repairing of equipment, machinery, as well as all other systems associated with a packing facility such as electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance and repair.

Essential Functions

• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of machinery, equipment, and systems to ensure proper functioning and identify any issues
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems, making necessary repairs or adjustments to machinery and equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as lubricating, cleaning, and replacing parts to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime and production disruptions
• Collaborate with other maintenance team members and production staff to coordinate maintenance activities and prioritize tasks
• Document maintenance and repair activities including work performed, parts used, and equipment condition, in maintenance logs or computerized systems
• Conduct tests and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
• Order and maintain inventory of spare parts and supplies needed for maintenance and repairs
• Operate tools, equipment, and machinery safely and effectively, following proper procedures and guidelines
• Stay updated on industry advancements and technologies related to maintenance practices, participating in training programs or workshops as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Technical degree or certification in mechanical maintenance or related field preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic or similar role
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, including motors, pumps, conveyors, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
• Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to equipment maintenance and repair
• Excellent manual dexterity and physical stamina to handle heavy equipment and perform repairs
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• Driver's license may be required
