Summary of ResponsibilitiesThe Chief Administrative Officer is responsible for leading the administrative operations of the organization. Responsibilities include developing and implementing policies and procedures that support the administration of the organization, leading the work of the finance, operations, and technology teams, and serving as lead on contracting and compliance. Regular reports to committees and the board of commissioners as well as interaction with industry members are key responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Lead and provide strategic direction and oversight in three administrative areas: finance, operations, and technology. Included in this work are workplace safety, digital security, contract and compliance oversight, policy and procedure development and implementation, and team management
- Develop and oversee management of annual plans and budgets for all three areas
- Lead and manage the administrative staff 1 including the work of program directors
- Direct the internal and external administrative functions according to commission law, policies, and procedures; establish new systems and procedures as needed
- Serve as a key staff contact to board and industry; provide direction for board and committee meetings
- Oversee the grant management program including analysis of need, application, contracting, and compliance; includes state and federal grants applied for and received and grants awarded by the organization
- Oversee review of all commission contracts, ensuring adherence to organization policy and grant compliance, and/or ensuring protection of intellectual property; managing liability
- Manage trademark protection for organization certifications, logos, and marks in the U.S. and international markets
- Provide advice and counsel to the President
An understanding of the management challenges associated with nonprofit public sector work, as is the understanding of the respective roles of staff and board in a service organization. Strong management, organizational, language, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. The ability to develop systems and procedures and oversee their effective implementation is required as is the ability to understand and effectively administer complex policies.
The ability to motivate others, handle multiple duties simultaneously, integrate competing deadlines, and coordinate the workload of others while maintaining a balanced perspective and a sense of humor are sought after attributes.
A degree in public administration and at least ten years of management-level experience and a record of progressive responsibilities are required.
Compensation- Base salary $160-$180K
