The Machine Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the machine shop, ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and delivery commitments are met. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines shop floor management with office, planning, and technical responsibilities. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with extensive CNC machining experience and the ability to manage both people and systems effectively.

• Shop Operations & Leadership — Lead, supervise, and support machinists, programmers, and shop personnel
• Assign work, set priorities, and manage daily shop activities
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
• Train, mentor, and evaluate employees to improve performance and skill development
• Production Planning & Scheduling — Schedule, track, and manage jobs using E2 Shop Tech / JobBOSS
• Monitor production progress, labor utilization, and machine capacity
• Adjust schedules as needed to meet customer delivery requirements
• CNC Programming & Machining — Program, set up, and run CNC machines as required
• Operate and support Mazak CNC mills and lathes
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, fixturing, and programming issues
• Optimize machining processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cycle times
• Quality & Inspection — Review customer drawings, specifications, and tolerances
• Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections
• Ensure parts meet quality requirements and address nonconformances
• Office & Administrative Responsibilities — Use E2 Shop Tech / JobBOSS for job tracking, scheduling, quoting, and time management
• Prepare job quotes, estimates, and labor/material forecasts
• Order raw materials, tooling, and shop supplies
• Communicate with customers regarding job status, timelines, and technical questions
• Maintain accurate production records and documentation

• Proven experience as a Machine Shop Manager, Lead Machinist, or similar role
• Strong CNC programming and machining background
• Experience operating and programming Mazak CNC mills and lathes
• Proficiency with E2 Shop Tech / JobBOSS or similar ERP/MRP systems
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

• Multi-axis CNC experience
• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
• Quality System Experience (ISO Or AS9100 Preferred)
