Plate Processing Operator - Fresno, CA

Job Summary

Typical daily duties include all plate processing machine operations including gathering material, processing work orders, and routine machine maintenance. Plate Processing Operators will also assist Ware housemen with performing any combination of duties and tasks to support the receiving, storing, processing, packaging, and distribution of steel products.

Stand or sit (stationary position), walk (move, traverse), use hand/fingers to handle or feel, climb (stairs/ladders) or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk/hear, see, pushing or pulling, reaching, repetitive motion. Medium/Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 50 lbs frequently, or up to 20 lbs constantly to move objects.

• Perform any of the following tasks to process, and distribute material, tools, and equipment.
• Coordinate with supervisor regarding work order specifications.
• Prepare, process, and package material per work order instructions.
• Moving, gathering, packaging, or distributing material.
• Gather material by hand, forklift, or crane, and use strapping tools to band product together for shipment.
• Mark material with identifying information or attach identifying tags or labels.
• Clean work areas, machines, and equipment using a broom, shovel, rags, vacuum, and cleaning compounds.
• Make simple adjustments and repairs to machine such as replacing guards, rollers, and tooling.
• Complete daily safety inspections on cranes and forklifts close to plate processing equipment.
• All additional tasks assigned by Supervisor and/or Manager.

• Understanding of PDM's Quality Policy and Objectives
• Ability to read and interpret documents
• Safety Policies and Procedures
• Able to read measuring instruments, calipers, tape measure, square, and protractor
• Knowledge of proper tooling setup and other tools used on machine
• Able to use Manufacturing software

• Identify material types, sizes and grades
• Operate overhead crane
• Rigging; magnets, slings & clamps
• Correctly complete paperwork
• Follow control plan and inspections
• Understand heat number traceability
• Set up and operate machine correctly
• Read Drawings
