Compensation Range: $77,000 - $85,000 (Compensation is determined by a combination of an individual’s relevant work experience and educational requirements.)
Position Summary
We are seeking a driven and hands‑on 2nd Shift Plant Supervisor to lead daily production operations in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. The 2nd Shift Plant Supervisor is responsible for leading day‑to‑day production operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met. This role provides direct supervision to production employees, coordinates work activities across shifts or departments, and ensures compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and operational standards.
The 2nd Shift Plant Supervisor plays a critical role in driving operational discipline, employee engagement, and continuous improvement in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Production & Operations
- Supervise daily plant operations to meet production schedules and performance targets
- Monitor workflow, staffing, and equipment utilization to ensure efficient operations
- Coordinate across departments to resolve production challenges
- Ensure proper setup, operation, and changeovers of manufacturing equipment
- Enforce safety procedures and CalOSHA regulations at all times
- Conduct safety observations, incident investigations, and implement corrective actions
- Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching and accountability
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards
- Lead, coach, and develop hourly production employees
- Assign work, manage attendance, and address employee relations matters in partnership with HR
- Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management processes
- Foster teamwork, engagement, and operational discipline on the shop floor
- Ensure products meet quality specifications and customer requirements
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
- Drive Lean initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, and waste reduction efforts
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce operating costs
- Complete production reports and shift handoff documentation
- Track operational metrics and communicate performance results to management
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure adherence to SOPs
- Observe and comply with all safety, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 requirements
- Adhere to the organization’s code of conduct, time and attendance policies, and all other company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Associate’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of production operations, safety standards, and quality systems
- Experience leading hourly employees in a fast‑paced setting
- Basic computer proficiency (ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Office)
- Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Conflict resolution and coaching ability
- Results‑driven, hands‑on leadership style
- High level of integrity and accountability
- Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to machinery and industrial conditions
- Frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting required
- Use of appropriate PPE required
- May require overtime, weekends, or holiday work as needed
