Position Summary
The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all cleaning and sanitation activities within a food production facility. This role leads and trains the sanitation team, ensures compliance with food safety and regulatory standards, and keeps the facility and equipment in a clean and safe working condition. The ideal candidate has experience supervising sanitation teams within refrigerated or food processing environments and understands the requirements of GMPs and SSOPs.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead, train, and coach sanitation team members on proper sanitation procedures, food safety standards, and company policies.
Ensure production areas, equipment, and tools are cleaned and sanitized to required standards and ready for use before shift start.
Conduct routine pre-operational and post-operational sanitation inspections.
Monitor and maintain proper use, handling, and storage of sanitation chemicals.
Ensure team members follow personal hygiene guidelines including proper uniform, PPE, and handwashing practices.
Oversee the cleaning and sanitation of production floors, tools, equipment, break rooms, restrooms, and supporting areas.
Maintain sanitation records including logs, inspection forms, corrective actions, and cleaning schedules.
Identify and report sanitation concerns, equipment issues, or safety hazards.
Work closely with production and maintenance teams to support smooth shift transitions.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sanitation efficiency and food safety compliance.
4+ years of sanitation experience in food or beverage manufacturing; prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.
Strong understanding of GMPs, SSOPs, and food safety regulations (FDA, USDA, GFSI or similar).
Ability to train and lead sanitation employees effectively.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Able to work in cold or refrigerated environments.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Work is performed in food production areas, including cold or refrigerated rooms.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
May be required to work nights, weekends, or overtime depending on production needs.
