As a Manual Machinist you will:
- Operate manual mills and lathes to fabricate, modify, and repair pump components including impellers, shafts, couplings, and housings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance with tolerances.
- Perform fitting, finishing, and machining operations to achieve precise tolerances for sealing, flow efficiency, and structural integrity.
- Machine custom one-off components and replacement parts for specialized pump applications and field repair projects.
- Work with a variety of materials including stainless steel, bronze, cast iron, and specialty alloys.
- Collaborate with engineering and assembly teams to support production, testing, prototype development, and product improvements.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, and related machining equipment.
- Perform threading, boring, turning, facing, drilling, and other machining operations.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to verify compliance with specifications.
- Maintain safe work practices and keep equipment and work areas clean and organized.
- Support production schedules while maintaining quality standards and attention to detail.
Required Skills &
Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating manual mills and lathes in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
- Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
- Experience maintaining tight tolerances and performing precision machining.
- Knowledge of machining operations including threading, boring, turning, facing, and drilling.
- Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Ability to safely handle large and heavy industrial components.
Pay Rate: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
* Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
