Mechanical Assembler

Location: Fort Collins, CO

Pay: $20–$30/hour, based on experience

Position Overview

This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity with a small manufacturing shop looking for a Mechanical Assembler who’s comfortable working hands‑on and independently. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building, fabricating, and assembling components from start to finish and takes pride in seeing the final product ship out the door.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Perform mechanical assembly using hand tools for drilling, tapping, cutting, filing, and bending
  • Work with materials including aluminum, copper, steel, plastic, and fiberglass
  • Operate basic shop equipment such as a small drill press, bench‑top belt sander, and band saw
  • Use measurement tools including calipers and other standard shop measuring devices
  • Solder connectors to copper wire (12–20 gauge) using a soldering iron
  • Follow written and verbal instructions to complete parts and sub‑assemblies accurately and on time
  • Create and maintain your own notes or work instructions once trained
  • Occasionally assist with printed circuit board‑related work (plus, not required)
What We’re Looking For
  • 3–5 years of mechanical assembly experience preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven hands‑on skills
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to manage your own workflow and stay organized in a small‑shop environment
  • Willing and able to demonstrate mechanical and soldering skills during the interview process
  • No formal education, blueprint reading, or schematic experience required
Work Environment & Schedule
  • Small production team (approximately 7 employees on the shop floor)
  • Day shift, typically 8:00am–5:00pm
  • Overtime is rare and project‑driven; mandatory OT may occur occasionally for short periods
  • Optional overtime may be offered during high‑order years
  • Overtime paid at 1.5x
Benefits (Full‑Time, 40 hrs/week)
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance (company pays 50% of employee‑only health premium)
  • Health Savings Account option with high‑deductible plans
  • Paid time off:
    • 1 week in year one
    • 2 weeks in years 2–6
    • 3 weeks after 7+ years
  • 6 paid holidays plus up to 3 bereavement days
  • Company‑matched SIMPLE IRA (up to 3% of annual income)
Why People Succeed Here

People who do well in this role are self‑sufficient, detail‑oriented, and take ownership of their work. Because this is a small company, every employee has a direct impact on quality, delivery, and the company’s bottom line. You’ll see the tangible result of your efforts every time a product ships, which is something the team takes a lot of pride in.
