Position Summary

The Managing Director for the Central Valley will lead the launch, development, and early implementation of College Advising Corps programming in the region. As the program enters a startup and growth phase, this role will be highly hands‑on and adaptive, combining program leadership, community development, fundraising support, and direct adviser supervision.

The Managing Director will establish foundational partnerships, build local infrastructure, and ensure strong initial support for College Advising Corps Advisers while working closely with organizational leadership to position the program for long‑term sustainability and growth.

Key Responsibilities Startup Program Leadership & Adviser Support
  • Lead the initial rollout and implementation of College Advising Corps programming in the Central Valley, including establishing systems, processes, and regional norms.
  • Provide intensive, direct supervision, coaching, and day‑to‑day support to College Advising Corps Advisers during the early years of the program.
  • Support adviser recruitment, onboarding, training, and placement in collaboration with national and state teams.
  • Serve as a primary problem‑solver for adviser challenges related to school sites, students, and community contexts.
  • Monitor program quality, adviser performance, and student outcomes, using data to inform early‑stage improvements and adjustments.
  • Gradually support the transition from direct adviser support to more sustainable supervision structures as the program matures.
Community Development & Regional Presence
  • Build trust‑based relationships with school districts, school leaders, higher education partners, community‑based organizations, and local stakeholders.
  • Establish College Advising Corps as a credible and valued partner in the Central Valley’s college access and student success ecosystem.
  • Represent the organization at community meetings, education coalitions, and regional events, serving as an ambassador for the mission.
  • Identify opportunities for strategic growth, pilot initiatives, and deeper community engagement aligned with regional needs.
Fundraising, Grants & Sustainability
  • Support and participate in local and regional fundraising efforts to sustain and expand the program beyond initial grant funding.
  • Cultivate relationships with foundations, public agencies, corporations, and individual donors in partnership with College Advising Corps’ development team.
  • Contribute to grant proposals, renewals, and reports by providing program data, narratives, and regional insights.
  • Support funder stewardship by sharing impact updates, success stories, and lessons learned from the startup phase.
  • Collaborate with leadership on sustainability planning, including diversification of funding sources.
Operations, Compliance & Administration
  • Oversee regional operations, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, partner agreements, and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate logistics related to adviser placements, MOUs with districts and schools, and local program operations.
  • Track and report program metrics, outcomes, and progress for internal leadership and external funders.
  • Assist with regional budget development and monitoring in alignment with grant funding.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and documentation of startup learnings to inform future expansion.
