DescriptionMF Professional Services, Inc. ("MFPS") provides human resources, payroll, benefits administration, and operational support to mission-driven organizations. This position supports MFPS clients, including Mi Familia Vota ("MFV") and Mi Familia en Acción ("MFA").
MFV and MFA are national, Latino-led organizations dedicated to strengthening civic engagement, building political power, and advancing policies that support Latino communities. Their work includes voter registration, voter education, community organizing, advocacy, leadership development, and issue-based campaigns.
Position SummaryThe California Deputy State Director supports the strategic, programmatic, operational, financial, and personnel management of MFV and MFA activities in California.
Working closely with the National Director of Campaigns and Programs and other organizational leaders, the Deputy State Director helps establish state strategy, manages staff and programs, supports field operations, develops partnerships, participates in fundraising, and monitors state budgets, grants, data, communications, and performance.
The ideal candidate brings substantial experience in field operations, campaigns, staff management, program development, fundraising, and data-driven decision-making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Help develop and implement a state strategy for building civic participation and political power within California's Latino communities.
- Oversee assigned voter-registration, voter-education, community-organizing, leadership-development, issue-advocacy, direct voter-contact, and voter-mobilization programs.
- Establish program goals, timelines, staffing plans, budgets, performance measures, and accountability systems.
- Monitor California's political, electoral, demographic, policy, and community landscape.
- Ensure field teams have the training, tools, technology, materials, data, and operational support needed to succeed.
- Recruit, onboard, supervise, coach, evaluate, and retain qualified staff in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Foster a professional, inclusive, collaborative, culturally responsive, and accountable staff culture.
- Oversee assigned field operations, including canvassing, voter registration, phone banking, text messaging, digital outreach, community events, and GOTV programs.
- Monitor progress toward voter-contact, registration, organizing, and mobilization goals.
- Collaborate with state and national leadership to develop and monitor the California budget.
- Align program activities, staffing plans, grant deliverables, and operational commitments with approved financial resources.
- Support grant proposals, funder reports, presentations, stewardship, and fundraising activities.
- Develop compelling narratives describing California programs, outcomes, community impact, and funding needs.
- Build relationships with community leaders, coalitions, funders, elected officials, media, and other stakeholders.
- Represent MFV and MFA at approved meetings, events, coalitions, conferences, and decision-making tables.
- Collaborate with the Data and Innovation Department to establish metrics, dashboards, reports, and accountability systems.
- Ensure accurate data collection and reporting for digital organizing, voter registration, voter contact, GOTV, and other program activities.
- Use data to guide strategy, solve problems, allocate resources, and evaluate success.
- Collaborate with Communications on digital strategy, media, messaging, marketing, and calls to action.
- Participate in media interviews and public-speaking opportunities when authorized.
- Maintain appropriate distinctions between MFA's nonpartisan activities and MFV's legally permissible advocacy or electoral activities.
- Work occasional evenings, weekends, extended hours, and campaign-style schedules.
- Travel regularly throughout California.
