As the QC Lead for the kill floor, your primary responsibility is to ensure that all meat products meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements throughout the slaughter process. You will supervise a team of quality control inspectors and work closely with production staff to maintain high standards of product safety, hygiene, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Inspection and Assurance:
Conduct regular inspections of the kill floor operations to ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations (e.g., USDA), and food safety protocols.
Monitor and enforce adherence to HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) guidelines and other relevant food safety management systems.
Supervision and Training:
Lead a team of QC inspectors, assigning tasks and providing guidance to ensure consistent and accurate inspections.
Train new employees on quality control procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and any corrective actions taken.
Prepare reports for management detailing quality metrics, compliance issues, and improvement initiatives.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify areas for process improvement related to product quality, efficiency, and safety.
Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
Communication and
Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with production supervisors, managers, and other departments to resolve quality-related issues promptly.
Participate in cross-functional meetings to discuss production goals, quality trends, and regulatory updates.
Health and Safety:
Promote a culture of safety by ensuring that all employees follow proper safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Investigate incidents or near misses related to quality or safety and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality control or assurance within the meat processing industry, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of meat processing operations, slaughter procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., USDA regulations).Excellent attention to detail and ability to conduct thorough inspections and audits.
Leadership skills to effectively manage a team and foster a collaborative work environment.
Good communication skills to interact with diverse teams and convey quality-related information effectively.
Working Conditions:
The role is primarily based in a slaughter processing plant environment, exposure to hot temperatures, loud noises, and strong odors.
Occasional weekend or evening work may be required to accommodate production schedules and inspections.
