Overview

As a Team Captain – Footwear & Apparel, you will lead a dynamic retail team focused on delivering exceptional service through product knowledge and athlete engagement across footwear and apparel. You will coach teammates, drive sales, and ensure athletes find the right products for performance and style.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Deliver outstanding athlete experiences by anticipating athlete needs and providing clear, accurate, and knowledgeable information about products and assortment.
- Uphold company merchandising and presentation standards by following floor sets, signage requirements, price changes, inventory presentation, replenishment standards, etc.
- Promote and lead company programs such as customer loyalty participation, warranty sales, and private label credit card enrollment.
- Collaborate with store manager and assistant store manager to develop 30‑60‑90 day plans and operational initiatives, staffing, hiring needs, merchandising sets, and budgets.
- Execute plans and adjust as needed using independent judgment and analysis of plan effectiveness.
- When the sole leader, act as head coach and perform general store oversight including opening and closing procedures, front‑end and cash office functions, and teammate supervision.
- Communicate departmental goals and plans to direct reports on a daily/weekly basis and assign workload to maximize efficiencies.
- Monitor progress against plans, adjust store goals, and pivot to ensure uninterrupted operations and athlete support while meeting payroll and financial goals.
- Develop effective schedules for direct reports and adjust as needed to meet athlete traffic demands and operational initiatives.
- Build and lead a high‑performing team, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retaining teammates.
- Ensure teammates are properly trained and provide coaching, feedback, development, recognition, and motivation throughout the teammate lifecycle.
- Manage performance, conduct annual reviews, recommend promotions, and hold teammates accountable for policies and procedures, including termination recommendations.
- Create a welcoming store environment for teammates and athletes, ensuring respect and adherence to safety, loss prevention, and standard operating procedures.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 1‑3 years of experience.
- Previous retail/customer‑facing experience required.
- Previous people‑leadership experience preferred.
- Targeted pay range: $53,500.00 – $67,500.00.
