Position Overview

Our client is a fast-growing AgTech company that delivers computer vision and imagery-based crop insights to growers around the world. The company operates across 18 countries and has analyzed hundreds of millions of trees and fruit to help growers make better decisions on yield and efficiency. The team is global, with commercial operations across North America, Australia, Europe, and South America.

This is a full P&L ownership role covering the West Coast, with a focus on California and the Pacific Northwest. The company is looking for a Business Development Director who can define go-to-market strategy, build and lead a regional team, and close complex enterprise deals directly with growers and grower organizations.

The role suits someone who is equally comfortable in the field with growers and in the boardroom with enterprise buyers. This is not a purely strategic seat. The company wants someone willing to do hands‑on deal execution while also owning the regional numbers.

Location

California or the Pacific Northwest. Central Valley, CA or the Yakima/Wenatchee area of Washington State are preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the California and Pacific Northwest P&L: revenue, margin, and cost management
  • Set and execute West Coast go-to-market strategy across crops, regions, and customer segments
  • Build, lead, and develop a regional sales and customer success team
  • Drive new business while growing and retaining existing accounts
  • Build direct relationships with enterprise growers, grower organizations, and strategic partners
  • Own regional forecasting, pipeline, and reporting against global targets
  • Ensure strong customer delivery and operational execution across all accounts
  • Work with Product and Engineering to feed West Coast market needs into the roadmap
  • Identify and build strategic partnerships to accelerate growth
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and key customer meetings
Requirements Essential
  • 5+ years in a senior sales role in AgTech, agriculture, or SaaS
  • Existing network of growers, ideally in perennial tree crops such as apples, cherries, citrus, almonds, or pistachios
  • Track record selling to enterprise customers through complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles
  • Proven ownership of revenue targets and P&L
  • Strong communication skills, equally effective at farm level and in the boardroom
  • High degree of independence, ownership, and accountability
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly across the West Coast
Preferred
  • Experience managing and scaling a sales or customer success team
  • Existing relationships with grower organizations or agricultural cooperatives on the West Coast
  • Background in precision agriculture, remote sensing, or ag‑tech hardware/software
Benefits
  • Base salary: $180,000 per year
  • Expected commission: $60,000 per year (on‑target earnings approximately $240,000 per year)
