Security Guard​/Sun.-Thurs x -hour shifts

Job Overview

Security Guards, also known as Public Safety Ambassadors, protect and guard University property; maintain order among the public and the UCSF community; monitor and control entry to restricted areas; inspect areas to prevent fires, accidents, and other hazards; direct visitors and answer questions concerning building and/or exhibit layouts; and perform other related duties as required.

Hourly range: $22.22 - $29.87. Sign‑on bonus: $500 for new hires who have not been employed with a UC in the last 12 months. Final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy and may be influenced by experience, internal equity, and, for unionized positions, the collective bargaining agreement.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid California Driver's License.
• Valid California Guard Card.
• Excellent customer service and effective problem‑solving skills; ability to fluently speak, read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Demonstrated ability to work calmly under stress in emergencies and make sound judgments.
• Demonstrated record of excellent attendance and reliability.
• Physical requirements:
  
  bending, squatting, climbing stairs; pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds; reaching above shoulder level; sitting for extended periods; standing and walking for extended periods; carrying and lifting 21-30 pounds; gripping and grasping; repetitive movements of upper and lower extremities; running short distances.
• General PC knowledge and proficiency using MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Current CPR certification (within 6 months of hire).
• Basic First Aid certification (within 6 months of hire).
• CPI de‑escalation training (within 6 months of hire).
• AED training (within 6 months of hire).
• Clery training (within 6 months of hire).
• Ability to work onsite full‑time, 10:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m., five 8‑hour shifts, Sunday‑Thursday.

• One or more years of experience in the security field.
• Military experience.
