Job Description
Security Guards, also known as Public Safety Ambassadors, protect and guard University property; maintain order among the public and the UCSF community; monitor and control entry to restricted areas; inspect areas to prevent fires, accidents, and other hazards; direct visitors and answer questions concerning building and/or exhibit layouts; and perform other related duties as required.
Salary and BenefitsThe hourly range for this position is $22.22 - $29.87. A $500 new hire sign‑on bonus is offered for those who have not been employed with a UC in the last 12 months. For further details on compensation and benefits, visit (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..html
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid California Driver’s License.
- Valid California Guard Card.
- Excellent customer service and effective problem‑solving skills; ability to fluently speak, read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Demonstrated ability to work calmly under stress in emergencies, and the ability to make sound judgments.
- Demonstrated record of excellent attendance and reliability.
- Requires bending, squatting, climbing stairs; pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds; reaching above shoulder level; sitting for extended periods; the ability to stand and walk for extended periods; carrying and lifting 21-30 pounds; gripping and grasping; repetitive movements of upper and lower extremities; and the ability to run short distances.
- General PC knowledge and demonstrated proficiency using MS Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Current CPR certification (within six months of hire).
- Basic First Aid certification (within six months of hire).
- CPI de‑escalation training (within six months of hire).
- AED training (within six months of hire).
- Clery training (within six months of hire).
- The ability to work onsite, full‑time, 10:00 p.m.
- 6:30 a.m., 5 x 8‑hour shifts, Tuesday - Saturday.
- One or more years of experience in the security field.
- Military experience.
