Furniture Installation Technician
This role focuses on installing and assembling furniture and cabinetry at a high school construction site in Porterville. You will support a lead installer with the setup of modular systems, cabinetry, and office furniture, ensuring accurate, safe, and efficient completion of all installation tasks. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, consistent attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions and work at a steady, repetitive pace.
Responsibilities- Work closely with the lead installer to install furniture in a high school environment in Porterville.
- Assemble, break down, and reassemble office furniture, including modular systems and cabinetry.
- Read and interpret part numbers, basic blueprints, and installation instructions to ensure accurate assembly.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to perform furniture assembly and installation tasks.
- Move materials, furniture, and components using dollies and carts in a safe and controlled manner.
- Lift, carry, and position heavy items as needed to complete installations.
- Organize parts, tools, and work areas to maintain an efficient and orderly installation process.
- Multi‑task across different installation activities while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Follow directions from the lead installer and project supervisors with attention to detail.
- Work at a repetitive, consistent pace while maintaining accuracy and workmanship standards.
- Communicate clearly with team members to coordinate tasks and resolve issues on site.
- Maintain reliable attendance and arrive on time to the job site each day.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction and installation of cabinets or similar fixtures.
- Proficiency in assembling and installing furniture, including modular systems and cabinetry.
- Ability to read and work with part numbers and basic blueprints or layout drawings.
- Skilled in the safe use of hand tools and power tools for furniture assembly and installation.
- Capability to perform heavy lifting and handle physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to perform tasks with repetitive speed and consistency while maintaining quality.
- Strong organizational skills to manage parts, tools, and multiple tasks.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrated reliability and strong attendance record.
- Comfort standing for extended periods of time on a construction site.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on construction or tenant improvement (TI) projects.
- Experience in mechanical or carpentry‑related work environments.
- Familiarity with furniture assembly best practices and installation standards.
- Ability to work effectively under the guidance of a lead installer or supervisor.
- Strong attention to detail when aligning, leveling, and securing furniture and cabinetry.

Work EnvironmentYou will drive directly to the work site each day, primarily at a high school construction and tenant improvement project in Porterville. The work takes place in an active construction environment, which may involve noise, dust, and varying weather conditions depending on the stage of the project. You will spend most of the day on your feet, standing and walking for extended periods while handling tools, materials, and furniture components.
The role involves frequent heavy lifting, use of hand and power tools, and operation of dollies and carts to move materials. Work attire should be appropriate for a construction site, including sturdy footwear and any required safety gear, as directed by site policies.
This is a Contract position based out of Fresno, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
