OPERATING ENGINEER – UNDERGROUND FOREMAN
Must be a Member of the Operating Engineers Union, Local 3.
Compensation is in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The Construction Underground Foreman supervises and coordinates field crews engaged in underground utility installation, including water, sewer, storm drain, and related infrastructure. The role ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements. The Foreman plans daily work activities, assigns tasks, monitors crew performance and productivity, and coordinates with project managers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other trades to maintain schedules and resolve field issues.
Strong knowledge of excavation, trenching, shoring, pipe installation, grading, and equipment operation is required. The Foreman enforces safety standards, conducts safety meetings, ensures OSHA and company policy compliance, maintains daily reports, tracks materials and equipment usage, and ensures quality control of installed work. The role demands leadership, communication, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to read blueprints and grade plans while working in physically demanding environments and adapting to changing site conditions.
