City Of Fresno Electrician Position

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Install and upgrade electrical systems, conduits, wiring, and fixtures across City facilities
• Maintain and repair lighting, power, heating, and fire alarm systems
• Service, troubleshoot, and overhaul traffic signal controllers and electronic components
• Diagnose and repair motors, generators, pumps, and related electrical equipment
• Test, locate, and resolve issues in electrical circuits and systems
• Perform overhead repairs using aerial boom equipment and replace damaged cables and fixtures
• Conduct preventative maintenance on 15kV substations, switch gear, transformers, and breakers
• Program, calibrate, and repair PLCs, VFDs, fiber optics, and process control instrumentation
• Utilize trade tools and safety practices to complete work efficiently and safely
• Perform related duties as assigned

Duties and schedules may vary by assignment, please inquire about specific duties and/or schedules if called upon for an interview. Incumbents may be required to work any shift; overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. This position may require incumbents to perform standby duty on a rotating basis.

The current vacancies exist in the Department of Public Works. However, this classification also exists in the PARCS, Water Division of Public Utilities, Wastewater Division of Public Utilities, and General Services departments. Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of three (3) months from the date the eligible list is created, with the option of extending that period at the City's discretion.

If the examination process is suspended for this recruitment, the eligible list may be limited to three (3) months.
