Our state-of-the-art repair facility offers all levels of motor and pump repair, service and rewinding, with 24-hour service availability. Our supply division has one of the largest stocking warehouses in Central California. We also have a fully licensed professional contracting division capable of providing service for small to large industrial projects, including custom panel design and installation, PLC programming, AC drives, and transformer installations.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Electric Motor Field Service Technician performs on-site troubleshooting, testing, precision alignment, field balancing, vibration analysis, maintenance, and repair of industrial AC/DC motors, pumps, generators, gearboxes, fans, blowers, and other rotating equipment. This position works independently at customer facilities to restore equipment reliability and minimize downtime while following EASA standards, company procedures, and all customer and site safety requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Travel to customer sites to inspect, troubleshoot, test, service, and repair industrial AC/DC motors, pumps, generators, gearboxes, fans, blowers, and other rotating equipment.
  • Perform precision laser shaft alignment, including soft‑foot checks and correction, coupling alignment, and final documented readings.
  • Perform field balancing and vibration testing and analysis; identify bearing, alignment, balance, looseness, resonance, and other equipment conditions.
  • Use multimeters, megohmmeters, vibration analyzers, laser alignment systems, balancing equipment, thermal imaging equipment, and related diagnostic tools.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and communicate findings and recommended corrective actions to customers and management.
  • Remove, install, disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble motors and rotating equipment, including bearings, seals, brushes, couplings, and related components.
  • Perform field service work in accordance with EASA AR100 standards, manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and customer requirements.
  • Safely rig, lift, move, and position equipment and follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE, confined‑space, fall‑protection, and site safety procedures.
  • Complete service tickets, alignment, balancing and vibration reports, photos, test results, and other job documentation accurately and timely.
  • Maintain company service vehicles, tools, and test equipment; respond to scheduled and emergency field service assignments, including overtime or weekends when required.
  • When not assigned to field service work, perform electric motor, pump, and other rotating equipment repair duties in the repair shop.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of five years of dedicated field service experience repairing and maintaining heavy industrial AC/DC motors and rotating equipment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in precision laser alignment, field balancing, and vibration testing and analysis.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with motors, pumps, generators, gearboxes, fans, blowers, compressors, and related industrial machinery.
  • Proficiency with multimeters, megohmmeters, vibration analyzers, laser alignment systems, balancing equipment, thermal imaging equipment, and related diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret industrial schematics, engineering drawings, nameplate data, and motor connection diagrams; working knowledge of EASA AR100.
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to comply with LOTO, PPE, environmental, and site‑specific safety requirements; valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus a technical diploma, completed apprenticeship, or equivalent electromechanical or industrial electrical training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certified Level I or Level II Vibration Analyst, or formal training in vibration analysis.
