Position: Mechanic Electrician II2nd Shift  2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Setup, repair, install, maintain machinery equipment including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, special projects, measuring and calibrating equipment, performing preventive maintenance duties with strong mechanical/electrical aptitude, and working with internal and external customers.
  • Performs all production equipment setups as required to meet operational needs.
  • Supports and completes preventive and planned maintenance of mechanical, electrical and utilities equipment, including cleaning, inspecting, diagnosing, replacement, testing and continuous improvements.
  • Diagnoses malfunctions in machinery and equipment by visual and auditory inspection.
  • Identifies and reports repair needs to Maintenance Management and coordinates with previous shift maintenance and production staff to plan product changeovers.
  • Communicates professionally with other departments regarding equipment repair status.
  • Documents maintenance events to provide effective information for problem solving.
  • Leads diagnostics of mechanical/electrical malfunctions and participates in plant shut‑down maintenance.
  • Fabricates, assembles and installs mechanical/electrical systems using appropriate tools.
  • Builds and installs new and enhanced equipment through continuous improvement upgrades.
  • Collaborates with Engineering, Maintenance Managers and Master Mechanics on projects.
  • Enhances knowledge and skills of mechanical and electrical systems through on‑the‑job training.
  • Completes all tasks while strictly adhering to industry guidelines, including Plant Safety, Food Safety, SQF and internal/external audits.
  • Reports food safety & quality problems to authorized personnel.
Required Education, Skills & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer literacy (internet search, email, attachments).
  • Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Arithmetic skills for units of measure.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Experience working with manufacturing equipment (3‑phase motors, control wiring, 24 VDC, 120 VAC, 208/220 VAC, 480 VAC).
  • Experience with conveyor controls, pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps and valves.
  • Knowledge of production machinery (fillers, rinsers, cappers, case packers, case formers, coolers, pasteurizers).
  • Familiarity with Lock‑Out Tag‑Out, Hot Work, Confined Space and HECP training preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Ability to use measuring tools and test equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Mechanical aptitude required.
  • Familiarity with drill press, chop saw, port‑a‑band, sawzall and other maintenance tools.
  • Experience with multi‑meters, amp probes, megger, panelview.
  • LiDestri experience of 2+ years and familiarity with 85 % of plant machinery.
  • Experience with man lift, power tools, hand tools, panelview controls, production machines, X‑ray equipment, photo eyes, light curtains, conveyors.
  • Experience with kitchen equipment, pumps, milling machines, lathes and drill presses.
  • Experience with lock‑out/tag‑out equipment, gear and HECPS.
  • Computer and printer proficiency.
  • Ability to climb ladders and use carts.
  • Experience with ammeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes and motor megger.
  • Experience with digital multimeter and clamp‑on AC current reader.
  • Experience with RTO calibrator, RTO milliamp and calibrator/simulator.
