Person in this position will be responsible for the organizing, planning, and delivering onsite group education sessions for parents and children in various life skills areas following evidence‑based curricula for the Celebrating Families Program.
Essential Job Functions- Organize, plan, and deliver onsite group education sessions for parents and children in various life skills areas following evidence‑based curricula for the Celebrating Families Program.
- Work with the team to assess each family’s need for educational services, including substance use prevention and healthy living skills.
- Facilitate a positive learning environment.
- Provide input at case staffing team meetings.
- Evaluate the progress of participants assigned to their groups.
- Observe participants’ behavior alone and in interactions with other parents, children, and peers.
- Maintain accurate client records and charts.
- Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of West Care Foundation.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, rehabilitation, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in social services or human services (preferred).
- Customer service experience (preferred).
- Bilingual – fluent in English and Spanish (required).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; internet skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Superior organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, work well in a team environment, and demonstrate high initiative.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially regarding confidentiality.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal history background check.
- Compliance with COVID‑19 vaccination and testing requirements as mandated by the State of California and West Care Foundation.
- CPR Certification.
- First Aid Certification.
- Annual tuberculosis test.
Work is primarily performed in an office or in a residential/outpatient treatment setting. Some outdoor activities may be required. Must be able to de‑escalate situations in the program.
Physical DemandsRequires mobility and physical activity: standing, walking (even and uneven surfaces), sitting for extended periods, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds. Use of computer and telephone systems is required. Requires the ability to defend oneself and clients in physically abusive situations using approved physical de‑escalation techniques.
Mental DemandsRequires the ability to collect and analyze complex data, work under stress and emotionally charged settings, defend oneself and clients in verbally abusive situations using approved mental/verbal de‑escalation techniques, and cooperate with clients, coworkers, managers, the public, and employees at all levels to exchange ideas and instructions.
