POSITION SUMMARY
The Housing Specialist provides housing support to participants in the Landlord Engagement and Mitigation
Program. The incumbent will be able to cope with conflict, stress, and crisis situations through effective
problem-solving and mediation skills. The Housing Specialist will be responsible for case management, resource
linkages, and supporting households in growing tenancy skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
● Coordination of services for client
● Gather documents needed to secure housing
● Locate housing opportunities in the community
● Liaise between client and landlord on housing process and stability
● Create action plan with client and conduct weekly in-home visits to monitor progress and offer
solutions, as needed
● Maintain appropriate client files and complete documentation within the required timeframe
● Advocate for client’s voice and choice in housing process
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
● High School Diploma
● Minimum 3 years’ experience with case management
● Knowledge of Coordinated Entry System
● Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
● Ability to work well in a team environment
● Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality
● Must be culturally/linguistically sensitive to populations served;
● Valid driver’s license
● CPR Certification, First Aid Certification
