Position Type12‑Month Limited Term – Full Time (may be extended to 24 months or become permanent)
Responsibilities- Operate all types of highway maintenance equipment under the supervision of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor.
- Work on the striping/stencil crew, which is a traveling crew and may require travel up to 50% of the time.
- Operate vehicles requiring a Class "A" driver’s license with tank endorsement, and service equipment used in striping, raised pavement markings, stencils, signs, or emergency service.
- When not operating equipment, perform duties outlined under CHMW or CLMW and other related work.
- May be assigned to non‑equipment duties normally assigned to other classifications as part of the normal assignment.
- Perform heavy manual labor, routinely lifting 50 lbs. or more, and work long periods of driving, standing, or in severe weather conditions.
- Support the Department’s storm water pollution prevention program.
- Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) is required. Provide CDL number, class, expiration date, endorsements, and restrictions on application.
- Must pass a drug screening prior to hire.
- Must pass a background investigation prior to hire.
- Must possess a valid unrestricted Class A commercial driver’s license with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state‑owned or leased vehicle.
