Inventory Control Clerk Job Description
This short-term Inventory Control Clerk position supports a high-volume warehouse operation for an original equipment manufacturer. You will perform manual cycle counts of parts and materials by hand, verify inventory accuracy, and help maintain organized and efficient storage areas without relying on RF scanners or automated systems.
Responsibilities- Perform manual cycle counts of warehouse parts, components, and materials on a daily and weekly basis.
- Physically count inventory by hand, including opening boxes, bins, and containers to verify quantities.
- Compare physical counts to inventory records and identify discrepancies between system data and actual stock.
- Research and report inventory variances, including overages, shortages, and damaged materials.
- Recount items as needed to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies in quantities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of counts using paper logs or manual data entry into inventory systems.
- Organize and maintain inventory locations to support accurate counts and efficient storage and retrieval.
- Assist with full physical inventories and inventory audits as required by the warehouse operation.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, orderly, and organized work area.
- Communicate with warehouse, production, and inventory teams to resolve inventory issues and support smooth operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or cycle counting preferred.
- Experience working with parts inventory such as SKUs, bins, and manufacturing components.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in counting and recording inventory.
- Basic math skills for counting, reconciling, and verifying quantities.
- Ability to work independently and remain focused on repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable working without RF scanners, with preference for manual tracking experience.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and recordkeeping.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 30–50 lbs as needed.
- Ability to handle small parts as well as larger components.
Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle for updating inventory counts is a plus.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or OEM environment is a plus.
- Experience using pallet jacks in a warehouse environment.
- Experience with inventory management and inventory control processes.
- Experience performing audits, inventory checks, and picking activities.
- Accurate data entry skills related to inventory records.
- Comfort working in a high-volume warehouse setting with repetitive tasks.

You will work a consistent daytime schedule, gain or enhance hands‑on experience with inventory control processes, and develop practical skills in cycle counting, organization, and manual inventory tracking within a supportive warehouse team.
Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a warehouse environment supporting an original equipment manufacturer. The position follows a 1st shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is a short-term project lasting approximately one week. You will work on your feet for most of the shift, standing, walking, and bending while handling both small parts and larger components.
The work involves manual counting, opening and inspecting boxes and bins, and using basic warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with a focus on accurate inventory handling and adherence to warehouse safety procedures.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fresno, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
